A Rainy Cloud – Doing Live Visuals for Il Tempo Gigante
I had the great pleasure to do some visuals for the Munich show of Il Tempo Gigante.
I tried to create something unobstrusive, dynamic and “alive”: It’s a cloud that reacts to the audio input level. Some parameters can be changed to influence the rain dynamics (e.g. manually triggering single rain drops, changing the input gain/rain threshhold, adjust speed and enable/disable the attachment of single words from the song’s lyrics to the drops).
As the projector stands in a non-frontal position I set up some 3D mapping to correct the projection - In addition to the background layer with the cloud, there’s a ground layer showing the drops hitting and creating circles that quickly grow and dissolve.
